Just a few pictures

I've had a few pictures from the "August" folder that I figured I'd better post or I never will.

Here's Madigan's picture from the 1st day of school. Oh wait a minute... she won't go to school for 3 more years! But, she got this outfit and backpack from a cool, older friend and had to try it on. Note - the shirt says "drama queen". Couldn't be any more fitting.
Here's a picture of Madigan and all of her friends that stay with us on Fridays. Thankfully, they're all wonderful kids. But they still make things interesting at times! And last but not least, on our day off last week (Labor Day), Madigan requested a tea party with Mommy and Daddy. The tea tasted oddly like apple juice (hey, at least it's the same color!) and we served Skittles instead of crumpets. Not your traditional tea party, but I think everyone enjoyed it.A quick video of Madigan's "tea party talk". :)

Hope everyone has a great week!

Old Testament

Ms. Laura has been working with Jenna and Madigan on their books of the Old Testament and she sent this video to me a few days ago.

Thanks Ms. Laura! We'll quit being slackers and get started on the New Testament now. :)

Pledging Allegiance

Not to the flag of the United States of America yet. We're just working on our Major League Baseball loyalties right now.

Yesterday, Madigan came to me and started listing off which baseball team everyone in the family liked. Daddy=Cubs, Mommy=Rangers, Mema = Braves, Gee Gee = Yankees, Uncle Matt= Red Sox (yes, Gee Gee and Matt are the black sheeps of the family - that's a topic for a whole different post). So, I asked Madigan who she liked and without missing a beat, she said "The Rangers". My heart swelled with pride. The brainwashing has officially taken hold!!

Now to be fair, I do have to admit that she also likes the Cubs. But, the Rangers have several advantages over the Cubbies.

#1 - They're a lot closer, so we've been able to see them live quite a bit. And we started her young - here's a picture of her at her first Rangers' game at about 9 months.

#2 - We see them play on TV way more than the Cubs thanks to the Fox Sports Southwest TV station. She and I actually watched a game from the hospital bed on the night that she was born. (I told you I started her young!) Because they're on TV a bunch and because Madigan misses nothing, she's picked up on some of the key players. In fact, she can name at least 5 of the starting players at any given time. Pretty good for a 3 year old, in my opinion...

(and just for the record, she was right. She had already said Michael Young. I'd missed it.)

#3 and probably the most important - the Rangers have a mascot and the Cubs don't. She even got to meet Captain in person when we were at the All-Stars game in July. It made a lasting impression...
So much of an impression, that Ted got her a stuffed Captain for her birthday.
To say she loves it would be a bit of an understatement. He sleeps with her every night and she brings him into the living room anytime the Rangers are playing...just so he can watch too!So, there you have it folks. Despite all of her pinkness and princess tendencies, my little girl knows a good baseball team when she sees one. :) And I am one proud mommy! Now, Go Rangers!
