A lot of firsts

This has been a week of "firsts" at the Bowsman house.

First of all, Madigan started school! Well okay, she started a Mother's Day Out program on Thursdays only, but to her it was SCHOOL and she was EXCITED! Even with all of the excitement, I still expected a lot of tears, clinginess and begging me not to leave her. Because that's what Madigan does in new situations. Instead, she pranced in with her Princess backpack and her new Princess lunchbox and told me to have fun at work! I was very relieved...and a little bit sad. When did she get so big?!
Here's the best picture I have of her before we left for the 1st day of school. She was in a silly mood and didn't want to give me a normal smile. Oh well!
Then yesterday, Madigan and I went to get haircuts. In the past, I've always trimmed Madi's bangs and just let the back grow long. However, my last attempt to cut her bangs didn't turn out so well. Pretty bad, actually. So, Madi got her 1st "real" haircut yesterday! (Note - they just fixed her bangs and trimmed the length a tiny bit, so you really can't tell. But don't you dare tell her that!)
First haircut
Paxton also had some firsts this week - not quite as monumental, but important just the same. This morning was his first time to wear a tie. Okay, so it was actually a T-shirt with a tie printed on it, but whatever! And then tonight, he wore shoes for the first time! I think shoes for babies are a little ridiculous because seriously, what's the point? They can't walk and their feet never touch the ground! But this time, the shoes helped to complete the outfit. :)As you can see, it's been an exhausting week. So I think I'll head to bed!

Road Trip!

Last Friday, my parents came to our house and spent the night. EARLY the next morning, we got up and headed to Tennessee to see my brother's family.

Paxton was ready to roll!
Once again, Madi was spoiled on a trip with my parents by being able to watch a movie. So once again we are hearing "Why don't we have a DVD player in our car like Pa and Gee Gee?!" While Madigan watched movies, Paxton slept the whole trip. Literally, the WHOLE trip. He fell asleep in Little Rock and woke up as we got off of the highway at the Jackson exit. No, I'm not complaining. This was Paxton's first trip to Tennessee. As you can see, they made him feel quite welcome...
Avery and Ella took turns cuddling with him.
Whenever they could get him away from Aunt Susie, that is!
And when the girls were busy, Pa took over cuddling duty. One of the goals of the weekend (well, one of Gee Gee's goals, at least) was to get a cousin picture. This one was cute...but wait, we forgot Paxton!Umm...we can't really see Paxton's face.Hey Ella, over here! Not bad, but Paxton still isn't looking at the camera...
Madigan thought maybe if she held Paxton things would go better. Not so much...But FINALLY, we got it! What a bunch of goobers! The other plan for the weekend was to take the girls roller skating. This was my first time to roller skate since a choir trip in high school. That was a few years ago...

Thankfully it came back to me since Madigan needed a tiny bit of assistance.
What a cool Gee Gee!Madi has the best cousins. They helped take care of her and bought her "treats".So much fun! Now Madi wants to go skating all the time!
After we got back, Gee Gee and the girls decorated Valentine cupcakes. They were good...and very sprinkly!
Madi played in the super cool "toy room".
And Ella introduced Madi to an amazing new device called an MP3 player. After that, she was "plugged in" for the remainder of the trip.
We thought she looked a bit like Avril Lavigne in this picture!
They also took time to torment Pa a little...
Don't feel bad for him - he loved it!
Unfortunately, the wonderful trip had a little kink thrown into it when Madigan woke up at 4:00 in the morning and threw the fit to end all fits (which lasted 30+ minutes) for no apparent reason and woke the whole house up. Hopefully they will forget about that part one day and we'll be invited back sometime in the future. (Sorry again everyone!)

On the trip home, Pa bought Madigan a hot dog at a gas station. A HUGE hot dog...at 10:00 in the morning. This is a horrible picture, but check out the size of this dog!
And she ate every bite (much to Ted's dismay, who was hoping for some leftovers). And Paxton - well, Paxton had another nice slumber! Road trips are awesome! We had a great time in Tennessee and can't wait to see everyone again! Thanks Matt, Susie, Avery, Ella, Pa and Gee Gee for a great trip!

Snow Day Part 2

Along with the rest of the country, we had more snow last week! This time though, it was REAL snow (5-6 inches) and very little ice. It was great! Unfortunately, Madigan was sick this time, so our time outside was limited. But I still had a few pictures to post...

Here's a video of the snow coming down. I'd never seen such big flakes. It was beautiful!

Since Madi was sick, Ted built her a snowman while she was napping. Such a good daddy!
When she woke up, we bundled her up and let her go "accessorize" the snowman. The result was nice. My friend Lexie said it looked like a crazy grandma snow-woman, so we've lovingly referred to her as "Grandma" since then. She actually held up quite well but finally lost her head when the rest of her body reached about a 45 degree angle during the melting process.

In case that last picture doesn't do justice to Madi's outfit, let me post another picture of my little ragamuffin. You should note that she's still in her pajamas (it was 3:00 in the afternoon) and wearing socks with pink crocs...in the snow. Yes, I am that good of a mom. :)The next day we got out for a few more minutes. This picture is blurry, but I thought it was cute.
It's actually a good thing I ended up doing another snow day post because I found some pictures from the last snow that I missed. So, here they are! We went sledding...in a laundry basket. Hey, we live in Arkansas. We don't have sleds just laying around!Madigan didn't care that it was a laundry basket. She just knew it was fun!And Ted...well, I'll just let the picture speak for itself! We've had a lot of fun and I still LOVE the snow. However, I'll be fine if that's all we get this year since our school make-up days are slowly eating into my summer break!

Ticklish

So, it turns out that Paxton is ticklish like his momma. Every time we change his clothes, he starts laughing and snorting. He's especially ticklish under his arms. So, of course, we tortured him some by tickling him so we could have it on video!

Three Months Old

Paxton turned 3 months old today. I can't believe how fast the time has flown. He's now weighing in at 15 pounds and outgrowing clothes faster than I can get him in them. Here's his picture in the basket...
I tried hard to get him to give us one of his gummy grins, but he had other plans. "How about if I just eat my hands?"
"Oh alright, I'll smile. But I'm not going to look at you."Of course, the minute I had him back in his clothes and out of the basket, this is what he did...
Thanks Paxton. Anyway, here are some other pictures from the last few weeks that I haven't gotten posted yet.
Just a swingin'
A sweet picture of Daddy with his kiddosA somewhat scary picture of Mommy with the kiddos (Saturdays are no-makeup days :) )
Paxton watching football
But if truth be told, this is how he likes to watch football. Such a man.
Thankfully, he can still be a prince too...

I took these one evening when he was extra smiley. Such a big boy...

And this was his outfit that he wore to the "Celebration of Life" (aka Baby Sunday) at church.
Bath time!

We just started putting the little man in his Jumparoo. He LOVES it.

What a wonderful three months and what a wonderful baby boy! God has blessed us in so many ways.
