Batman and Funland

Okay, Batman and Funland really have nothing to do with each other. But I needed to put all of these pictures together in one post. :)

Aunt Kate got Paxton a Batman shirt that he wore to church last week.

Nananana Nananana BATMAN!!!
Check out my super hero moves! Watch out!
Gotham City beware!!

While Paxton was ridding the city of villains, Madi was on her own new adventure. On Saturday afternoon, our friend Ms. Marti called to see if we wanted to join them at Funland. This is a little amusement park at Burns Park that we've driven/run/walked past thousands of times but never stopped at. I wasn't sure how Madigan would do on the rides since she tends to be a bit of a scaredy cat at times. But we got her strapped in the "roller coaster" and she was still all smiles...
Hang on!!!
I'm not really sure why this picture turned out the colors it did, but I thought it looked pretty cool. Turns out, she loved it. Maybe I will have someone to ride roller coasters with me the next time we go to Six Flags (because it sure won't be her father!)Next up - Tea Cups (or at least the Funland version of tea cups!)
We tried to help them turn the cup by telling them to turn to the right. Then we realized that they didn't really know their directions yet!!About this point, Paxton realized that we weren't going to let him ride any of the rides, so he settled for playing with his froggie. Madigan moved on to the cars. She's good at being a backseat driver.
And, of course, she had to ride the merry-go-round.
Here's a question for you - what good would the "seat belt" do on this horse? Best I could figure, if she went down it would just hang her! Thankfully we didn't find out. :)
The last thing Madi wanted to ride was the Ferris Wheel. I was a bit concerned about this one since it did go pretty high and the seats rocked. Thankfully, Emma (who is a super cool OLDER kid) agreed to ride with Madi.
I love her face in this one! But with Emma beside her, there was no fear. Even when Emma started rocking the seat!
I totally chopped off their heads, but I love this pictures. Can you tell she had a good time?
We actually had to deal with crying when it was time to leave, but I'll take that over having to stop a ride to retrieve a screaming kid any day! Thanks to Ms. Marti for the invitation. It was super fun!!!

The Grandparents Come to Town

Grandi and Gramps came for a visit last weekend! We immediately put them to work.
Pick a child, any child! :)They were very surprised by how big Paxton had gotten since the last time they had seen him.
Madigan didn't really think he had grown THAT much. We had a lot of fun things on the agenda while they were here. Up first, gymnastics! As you can see, Madi did a little bit of showing off for them. We also had special beds for them to sleep in. Do you like Gramps' bed? :)
(Paxton was a little concerned. "Umm... that's not a very manly bed, Gramps.")
We did allow a little bit of time for hanging out.
But before long, it was time to get up and go again! Come on Gramps!
Before heading out with Grandi, we paused for a picture. Paxton paused for a spit up. Just keeping it real...
Our big project while they were here was to get the garden planted. First stop, farmer's market...
Gramps volunteered for kid duty while the rest of us picked out plants.
Madi really enjoyed planting the garden and checks daily on her watermelon and broccoli (weird kid, I know).
Paxton, on the other hand, thought we were all a little crazy, but enjoyed his time outdoors.
Everything was going good until Gramps started getting a little bossy.
Don't worry though, I set him straight. :)
Ted and I put the finishing touches on the garden and left Paxton in the very capable hands of...Madigan?
(I promise, he loved it!)

We had a wonderful time and were so glad Grandi and Gramps got to come visit!
We love you, Grandi and Gramps. Please come back soon!

5 Months Old

Little Man turned 5 months old last week. He's still smiling, laughing and melting our hearts, so life is good! He currently weighs 17 lbs, 5 oz and probably won't fit in this basket for his 6 month picture.

"Well hello, ladies"
"Holy cow, I have BIG feet!!"
"I've had enough of these pictures. I'm getting out!"
He's almost sitting up on his own.
He LOVES his big sister. And he LOVES his sleep!
Such a sweet boy and we are blessed beyond measure by having him in our lives.

The Aunt Kate Weekend

As I mentioned in the last post, Aunt Kate came for a visit last weekend. According to Madigan, she only came to see her, but the rest of us like to pretend she came to see us as well. :) As always, she had lots of fun things planned for her few days with us.

First of all, since it was Easter weekend, we had some Easter egg decorating to do.
As you can see, the end result was pretty cool. My personal favoriteAnd the king (?) in his castle
The real story with this - Ted decorated the egg and then let Madigan pick what color to make it. She picked pink, of course. It made for an interesting combination!
After decorating the eggs, it was time to hunt them. Madigan had a little bit of trouble with the ones hiding in the grass. We had to yell at her before she'd step on one!
Ted decided to help her out a little. Isn't he so cute?!
Showing off the goodsAnd what was Paxton doing during all of this? Eating sweet potatoes, actually. Can you tell?
On Saturday, I had a workshop to go to, so Kate and Ted took the kids to the Heifer Ranch.
They got to see all kinds of animals. Sweet little baby goats...
And super cool camels!
Kate tried hard to get Madi close to the camel for a picture. Madigan thought this was plenty close!Paxton had no choice about how close he got, but seemed a little concerned that the camel might spit. After visiting the ranch, they went to Wye Mountain to the daffodil festival.
Madigan liked the smell of the daffodils...
and Paxton wanted to see how they tasted.
Fortunately, Aunt Kate was there to keep him from ingesting any of the pretty flowers!"Seriously? This is supposed to be fun?"
Several attempts at getting Madigan and Paxton to both look at the camera and smile at the same time. Madigan had a little trouble staying upright while holding Paxton.
"Umm, Madigan. We seem to be leaning back a little."
"Hang on, sister! We're going down!"
A sweet picture of Ted with the kids
As you can see, we had a wonderful visit with Aunt Kate and just wish she lived closer so we could do it more often!
Thanks for everything Kate! We love you!
