7 Months Old
Figured I'd better hurry and get this blog posted before Paxton turned 8 months old. :)
Here's a picture of my big boy - 19 lb, 6 oz now
As you can see, he's no longer sitting in his basket. We really did try, but he just didn't fit too well anymore.
Plus he's a bit too active these days to keep contained in a basket.
"Let me out of this thing!"
So I did. And then he proceeded to dump the basket over and put the blanket on his head.
But how can you be upset when he looks up at you with this face?!
I also captured a cute picture of Madigan that day. Her smile is a little faker, but she sure does remain in one spot a lot better than Paxton!
She's actually at "Camp Pa and Gee Gee's" this week and I miss her like crazy. I'm sure we'll have lots of pictures to post and adventures to tell once she gets home! Stay tuned!

Our little graduate
(Disclaimer: This post is going to be long. Not a lot of words, but a LOT of pictures. Just wanted you to be prepared.)
Last week, Madigan "graduated" from the nursery department at church. Since Madigan isn't crazy about having lots of people looking at her, I wasn't sure how this would go.
The kids got to start out eating. So far, so good...
Then they stood up and sang some songs for the parents and grandparents. Madigan stood but didn't participate in the singing. I wasn't very surprised by this and to be honest, was just grateful that she stood with the other kids.
Then came the time for her to go up and get her new bible and diploma. This is what I got...
She finally allowed me to walk up with her and get her stuff. But on the way back to her seat, everyone started clapping. Madigan burst into tears. Oh well, we'd made it longer than I thought!!
Along with some other "treats", the nursery teachers gave each kid some photo albums that chronicled their time in the nursery department - from cradle roll to the 2 year old class. Madigan has spent literally hours going through the albums and telling me everything she remembers about her bible classes. Such an amazing gift for us parents who don't get to see the kids in class. I've scanned some of my favorite pictures to share here.
Pretty cozy, don't you think?
"Oh, we get to chew on these toys? I like that!"
Sporting her first Easter dress
Reading the Bible
And eating her Bible...
"Give me that thing!!"
This was her last week in cradle roll. I think she's saying, "You're crazy to think I'm leaving this class!"
And cool toys!
Madi loved looking at herself in the mirror :)
And she was great at getting her baby ready for Bible class...
It was really in this class that Madigan learned to love her Bible
And bow her head to pray.
Plus she got to spend some time on the phone...
She was very content in this class and got to spend way more than a year in there because of her late birthday.
In fact, she thought she was the queen of the class by the time she moved up!
One of the themes they went through was "God Made Me". God made our eyes,
Our noses,
Our mouths/tongues,
And our feet. :)
They also talked about community helpers at one point and got to wear the different hats.
Nurse Madigan...
The fire fighting duo...
Hard at work...
Baker Madigan...
I'm actually not sure how the baseball helmet fit in to these lessons, but I like it. Ted, on the other hand, wasn't so thrilled with the choice of teams. :)
They also learned how to lead singing.
As you can see, this was a funny part of the class!
And they talked about praying. How cute is this?
Although I'm sure Madigan had some moments where she acted like a toot...
Her Bible class teachers treated her like a Princess.
We are so grateful to the ladies in the Nursery Department for all of the time, effort and love they put into teaching Madi through the last (almost) four years. Words can't express the joy we feel to hear her "teaching" us what she's learned in class. God has blessed us with an amazing church family and we will forever be grateful to those who have helped to teach Madigan to love and serve God.

Cradle Roll
I love this picture because of Madi's expression and because she's being cuddled by one of the sweet ladies who spend their bible classes loving on our babies.

Come on Summer!!!
The light at the end of the tunnel is finally in view! Our kids got out of school yesterday and I just have a few more contract days before it's officially my summer vacation. Which is a good thing because I'm quite a bit behind on blogging...and sleeping. But for now, I'll leave you with a picture of Paxton's first swim in our pool.
I have a feeling we'll be spending a lot of time in it this summer!

Rangers vs Cubs 2010
In case I've never mentioned it before, I'm a big Rangers fan. And Ted happens to be a Cubs fan. So, when the two teams play each other (once every 3 or more years) in Texas, we take advantage of it and go watch them play. So, last weekend, we packed up with our good friends, the Cales, and headed to Arlington!
Check out my Rangers' fans!
Our first item of business was to visit Madi's favorite part of the ballpark - Captain's Corner. Captain is the Rangers' mascot and one very cool horse.
Here's Madi and Jenna posing with the super big Captain!
And Madi and Paxton watching the kids' Home Run Derby. They were a little upset I didn't give them a bat and let them take a swing or two...
Paxton tried hard, but he wasn't able to keep those eyes open for the whole game. It didn't seem to bother him that everyone around him was yelling and cheering.
He did wake up in time to hang out with my cousin Taylor, who joined us for the game. Paxton was quite captivated by Taylor and they had some good discussions in between innings.
Turn out all of our cheering paid off and the Rangers beat the Cubs! Go Rangers!
Since we'd already explored the kid's area, Madi moved onto the next most important part of the ballpark - the food!
Once again, Paxton fought the urge to sleep for about 5 innings, but finally gave it up.
This time, he slept through the yelling, cheering and 2 rounds of fireworks when the Ranger's hit homeruns!
A bonus to this game was that we got to hang out with my good buddy Susan (and her husband Jessy, not pictured).
Unfortunately, Paxton also hung out with Ted some this game and somehow ended up wearing a rally cap. It worked. The Cubs won. :(
Even though he was wearing his Cubs attire, I think Paxton was really still cheering for the Rangers and hoping they would come to their senses and put him in the ballgame.

Game #3
Despite the fact that it was hot and we'd now logged almost 10 hours at the ballpark, Madi was still cheering! (Okay, I'll be honest, she was actually cheering for the dots in the Dot Race. But it still made a cute picture!)

Just another day at the ballpark...
Unfortunately, the Cubs once again came out victorious. We finally left the ballpark at 4 on Sunday and put the hot, sweaty, un-napped kids in the car to head back to Arkansas. Paxton crashed before the car was started.
Madi, on the other hand, was WIDE AWAKE!
She never did take a nap on the way home and was quite delirious by the time we made it to our house around 10:30pm!
Such a wonderful trip. Yet it was still so nice to get home and get in our own beds! Madi's prayer that night actually went something like this "Dear God, thank you for this day and thank you for our beds! In Jesus' name, Amen". Paxton agreed.
So even though the Cubs took the series 2-1, it was a wonderful and memorable trip. And don't worry, we'll get 'em next time!
Game #1
Game #2
So in the interest of being "fair", I let the kids wear their Cubs attire the next night. Turned out to not be such a good idea, but I'll get to that later.
Game #3
On Sunday morning, we woke up and got some breakfast before heading to church. I got this food for Ted, Madi and myself. Madi decided it was just for her. I think Ted and I got a bite or two of her leftovers.
Just another day at the ballpark...
