Before I get any calls from upset grandparents, let me clarify. The hangover I'm talking about has nothing to do with drunkenness. It actually has to do with the belly hanging over the pants. And no, I'm not referring to mine, thank you very much. Amazingly, I'm referring to Madigan's new "big" belly.
This might not seem like much to some of you, but for us, it's pretty significant. For those of you who don't know, Madigan was pretty small when she was born (5 lb, 13 oz). Then, due to some feeding roadblocks and an inexperienced Mommy, she lost down to 4 lb, 10 oz by her first check up. To put it mildly, we were very worried. Thankfully, she started to grow at a good rate after that, but most of the growing was taking place in her length rather than weight. Even at her 9 month checkup, she was in the 20th %ile in weight and 99th %ile in length! No matter how much she ate (which was A LOT), each checkup she remained relatively low in weight. Until... at her 18 month appointment, she measured in the 90th %ile in length and ... (drumroll) the 75 %ILE in weight!! Our skinny girl finally had some weight on her! (and occasionally, it shows...)
So, that's one worry we get to check off the Parent's List of Worries - at least for now :). We thank God for taking good care of her even when we didn't know what to do.
Just wanted to share why I love seeing her belly! Hope you enjoyed a peek too!
