When the Parents are Away...

Tuesday marked 8 years that Ted and I have been married. Since our anniversary always falls right in the middle of the holiday madness and at a very busy time of year for both of our jobs, we rarely get to spend much time celebrating it. So this year, we celebrated a little early. When we went to North Carolina, we left the kiddos with Grandi, Gramps, and Aunt Kate for a night and went to a Bed and Breakfast. It was amazing! I ate two meals without cutting up food for anyone, enjoyed a night of uninterrupted sleep, and sat and enjoyed that wonderful phenomenon called "peace and quiet". And yet, when our 24 hour getaway was over, all I wanted to do was see those crazy kids again. Funny how that works, huh?!

So what did the kids do while we were away? Well, they...

played with the dog,
cracked some Wheel of Fortune puzzles,
styled Grandi's hair,
had a tea party,
got in touch with their "inner nerd" (note the shirt),
did a little pleasure reading,
painted toe nails (yes, that's Madi painting green toenails - scary!),
made a few new friends,
taught Aunt Kate how to use Gramps' new IPad,
watched a little TV,
made some cookies,
enjoyed the Great Outdoors,
hung out for a while,

and partied until they dropped!
As you can tell, they missed their parents greatly!
Thanks to Grandi, Gramps and Aunt Kate for keeping the kiddos. And Happy Anniversary to my husband. I truly wouldn't change a single minute of the last 8 years and look forward to many (70 or so...) more years of being married to my best friend! :)
