Fire Fest

On Tuesday night, all of the fire departments around our area hosted "Fire Fest". We'd heard about this for years but never attended it. I was surprised by what a big deal it was. There were countless firetrucks, the smokehouse, "firefighter training" activities for the kids, face painting, and Ted's favorite - free hot dogs and chips! We had a great time. Madi was most impressed with the PINK fire engine. She even got a souvenir from that station - a pink helmet!

Madigan got her face painted
And enjoyed showing off the end result!
She met up with her big buddy Emma, who helped her through all of the training activities.
I don't really remember what the point of this activity was, but you had to hit a metal block with a sledge hammer. Madi pounded it like a pro. I was very proud!
Here she is spraying the water hose with a fireman.
Paxton enjoyed the entertainment but was a bit miffed at me for not letting him out to join the fun.
Just before we left, Madi decided to test drive an antique fire truck. Ready to roll!
Paxton finally talked us into freeing him and letting him have a piece of the action.
All in all, a great time! Thanks to the fire departments for a fun evening!
